The Death Escape is actually my fire escape. I live on the 4th floor of an old brownstone with my old lady and we’re the only tenants with roof access from our apartment. There’s a door and a ten foot ladder that leads up to an otherwise deserted roof. There’s a twenty foot slope to the edge that turns into a nice little launch ramp. 4 feet to the right of the launch ramp is a 5 story drop to ground.

Overtime people have come over and been up on the roof. Of course anybody that owns a skateboard thinks they can ollie over the ledge and make it to the other side with out killing themselves. Many have talked about doing it, some have said no way but no one had ever attempted it.
The other night I was drinking with my friend Drew from Corpse Corps and I showed him the gap. He said he would do it on the spot, but after a joint and some second guessing we decided it would be better to try during the day (for photographic reasons).
Two days later Drew hits me up and says he wants to do it, he was stoked on the idea so I had no reservations.

We got on the roof, set up some camera and for the first time I watched someone clear the Death Escape. As planned Drew never flew off the side to almost certain five story death and the ceiling didn’t come crashing down. One run Drew lost his skateboard and it fell 5 stories at @ which point the landlord became aware of our activities and cut the session short. The whole experience was pretty gnarly despite the downfalls. Whether or not the these photos or words depict it, there was real danger at stake with each attempt which only made it that more excited.
